I was re-reading the original script of Robocop recently (sad git, I know!), mostly for the original opening scene which would've shown Officer Frank Frederickson and his colleagues being gunned down by Clarence Boddicker & his gang rather than the audience just hearing about it in the opening Media Break clip ("You give us 3 minutes and we'll give you the world"). This time, however, I read to the very end and apparently, the original script had the film ending with another Media Break report which would've included, among other things, Bixby Snyder (the lecherous, old "I'd buy that for a dollar" guy) leaving court after having been charged with coercing sexual favours from his underage co-stars (in exchange for job security) on the 'It's Not My Problem' show which we get little glimpses of throughout the film. It reminded me of the previous CDAN blind item which I read probably referring to poor Heather O'Rourke. Now Robocop's a great old action sci-fi film, of course, but it's also quite a clever satire, and I have to wonder whether the writers, Ed Neumeier & Michael Miner merely had a warped sense of humour or if they knew of the appalling practices in Paedowood.
