I find it hard to believe that Nassar was so well protected if there wasn't more to the story....

Was he filming and distributing the acts to an unknown person or group? Why else would he get so much protection, for such a long period of time?? Doesn't make sense.

Exactly

I know how these people work... they find a sick puppy like Nassar and promise him protection in exchange for video or access. Nassar has the arrogance of someone who had extreme protection, as long as he provided his protectors with the 'product.'

This man is evil. and all who covered for him.

One down. Awesome

The judge sentenced him to 175 YEARS, and said it was her 'honor' to do so. I hope the zero tolerance with which his case was treated by the court reflects on other, higher profile pedos that I hope will be coming into the spotlight sooner rather than later. Even if he had the best lawyers in the world, I feel like this judge saw what he did as such a heinous act that she would've done her absolute best to sentence him, and that's encouraging. The MeToo movement has brought some much needed attention to sexual assault, making it socially unacceptable to excuse assault anymore, and hopefully gotten people more ready to deal with a much darker issue.

sharpie

Yeah but they don't appear to be going after whoever protected him (conspired with him?)

AxolotlThanksaLotl

True. Going after just the abusers while ignoring the people and systems who enabled them is a huge problem. There was a good episode on the podcast Criminal about that , about a choir school that allowed pedos to take advantage of the system. It took a while (far too long imo) but eventually the school itself got shut down. If Nassar was training Olympic athletes, I wouldn't be surprised if at least some people in the IOC were aware and complacent to the abuse.

Wow. This guy will be put where. Where no one can get to him? I think there is more to this story. There were serious charges with the Olympics recently. There could be more involved here. Another Ring perhaps. Idk, it is always possible, especially when there are so many girls involved. This guy is a Sicko, we know that. But he hangs his head. Why? Do you think there is remorse or shame? NO. They are never remorseful or shamed. He knows that he will Take The Rap For Many. Is he the Fall Guy?

Let's hear for the MSM!

ABOUT THE SERIES

In March 2016, IndyStar began investigating USA Gymnastics – one of America’s most prominent youth sports organizations, and the governing body for the U.S. Olympic team. The investigation revealed that USA Gymnastics has followed a policy of not reporting all sexual abuse allegations against its coaches. That practice has enabled coaches to continuing preying on children despite repeated warning signs. IndyStar also has revealed a culture within the gymnastics community that has allowed coaches to shift from gym to gym, again despite warnings of inappropriate behavior. The investigation also provided the first comprehensive look at the pervasiveness of the problem, revealing that at least 368 gymnasts have alleged sexual abuse over the past 20 years. IndyStar also brought to light accusations of sexual abuse by the former team doctor for USA Gymnastics. That doctor has since been arrested on charges of criminal sexual conduct and child pornography. USA Gymnastics has hired an attorney to examine its internal practices. That review is ongoing.
