Corey Lewandowski has a CNN gig. Jeffrey Lord had a CNN gig. Katrina Pierson had a CNN gig. Ed Martin had CNN gig.

Hiring folks close to subjects of the news is not unheard of at CNN. Most of the their shows feature a debate or roundtable format.
