I have been avoiding Skippy stuff for Lent, including Voat, but it's Sunday. So glad I did. This looks great.

ben_matlock

great find @3141592653 !

see related about Brown University Professor Ross Cheit, the author of " The Witch Hunt Narrative "

it appears his blog is going strong.

NYT review of the book.

Thank you so much for those links. I have looked through them all. What amazed me was the NYT Review which is totally a turn around of their present views. What happened in those 4 years? Completely bought out. Also in his blog was this from The Witch Hunt Narrative: The articles and comments in this issue bear out the enduring impact of The Witch-Hunt Narrative. There is not sufficient space to acknowledge or respond to most of this feedback. This response corrects an error that was identified by one commenter and it responds to questions raised by another commenter about my analysis of the “Concerned Scientists” brief. This response also documents how Wood, Nathan, and Beck have misapplied the term ritual abuse, misstated the facts of many cases, and promoted “mythical numbers” that significantly exaggerate the number of false convictions. These critics are wrong about the only three cases they discuss in detail. The McMartin Preschool case began with credible evidence of child sexual abuse that continues to be distorted by critics. The Keller case began with even stronger medical evidence that is not diminished by the dubious and incomplete “retraction” of the Emergency Room doctor. The Fuster case involved overwhelming evidence of abuse, medical and testimonial, that continues to be distorted or overlooked by critics. Those who promote the witch-hunt narrative rely on selective use of evidence to reach an apparently predetermined result. That is politics and advocacy, not scholarship. This dismissive approach to children’s testimony has caused documented harm to children.

To Me The Standout Is: Those who promote the witch-hung narrative rely on selective use of evidence to reach an apparently predetermined result. That is politics and advocacy, not scholarship. This dismissive approach to children's testimony has caused documented harm to children. WE no longer protect our children. WE are protecting the Abusers.

right on, carmencita

carmencita

Thank You! I love the title of this post. Corrects the Lies of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation. Don't you just love it? Victims have been slandered, and shamed for decades. It's about time that their words are respected.

3141592653

Much appreciated. And thanks for the info

ben_matlock

@think- @vindicator please see parent. maybe we could set up an informal interview with Dr. Cheit in the near future. i'm sure our community could come up with some excellent questions.

Vindicator

This is a really excellent link you dredged up, ben. And I would totally support some kind of AMA if you want to set it up, so long as the O's are cool with the idea.

ben_matlock

reversing the stigma attached to the 'Satanic Panic' of the 80's is a worthwhile goal imo and one that we really need to focus on. we need these kids who were abused (now adults) to be heard and believed by normies. believable, personal testimony could provide a tipping point of sorts within the general consciousness.

i'll get to work on this over the weekend. thanks for your support, vin.

any thoughts or suggestions are most welcome @think- @blacksmith21 @honeybee_ @EricKaliberhall @kevdude

Blacksmith21

It be awesome if some of the more recognized names in this cause could put together a low budget documentary w new interviews .

3141592653

agreed

Are_we_sure

That article does not contain any research whatsoever.

Instead, it contains stuff like this

Furthermore, in the aftermath of the global financial crisis (GFC), the liberal notion of the sovereign individual so central to ‘false memory’ discourse has been challenged in significant ways. The GFC revealed the catastrophic narcissism of neoliberal individualism as well as the dense interconnectivity of economic and social relations, which operated to instantaneously transmit the consequences of the crisis around the world.

atimeandplace

I thought we finally got rid of you?

Vindicator

LOL. I love how you ignored this:

‘[t]he only thing that can displace a story is a story’ (Monbiot, 2017, p 3). In short, information is not sufficient to challenge disinformation: we must also supply a meaningful framework in which that information makes sense.

ben_matlock

It is headache-inducing gobbledygook like this that makes me despise academia.

3141592653

so, how are you doing, are_we_sure?

Are_we_sure

just throwing a little common sense in the whirlwind.

Shizy

I got something for you.....

........🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻😂😂😂😂

Are_we_sure

procrastinating at work, but otherwise ok.

EricKaliberhall

Aww, is Brock treating you bad?

3141592653

good! what inspires you to be here?

Vindicator

We're his academic research project.

3141592653

I was trying a new approach ;)

scarlettm512

Why did it take so long for academia to correct the record on this? Anyone could take a look at the people involved in setting up the FMSF and see that they had an agenda which was self-serving. Parents who were accused by their own daughter of sexual abuse and publishers who were involved in producing material that was pro-pedophilia and a guy who gave a pro-pedophilia interview to a foreign publication. Why did it take so long to refute their "work" on false memory syndrome?

Mad_As_Hell

Researchers are dependent on funding bodies, academic institutions and the cooperation of organisations from which participants are recruited, not to mention academic journals (and their peer reviewers) for publication and the media for wider dissemination. Given the "controversial" nature of this research and the ubiquity of pedophiles in positions of power there are many ways in which it could be stymied or blocked altogether

3141592653

People in the field have been fighting against them the whole time, I am happy to say. good question

Nunquam-Dormio

BYU. Mormons. Utah. All this FMS stuff got its start from there. Utah is a beautiful place, not so great for mental health though.

IVIVI

Because the pedo powers in our society have a strong hold in power positions like academia, government, law, etc. Its taken this long because the conspiracy is so large and so massive.

Exposing the FMSF for what it really is and getting the message out can be a great example to the masses just how evil the people in power are.

Vindicator

Yes, I totally agree. Someone needs to do a really amazing steemit article pulling all the nastiness about this together we can all share everywhere. We need some memes of this.

carmencita

Because there are always Evil Forces fighting against Good. They have been fighting this for decades. But now we have won this fight. This is a Good Thing, even though I admit it took way too long. Rejoice :)

carmencita

OOH! I Love You for posting this! :)

3141592653

I already loved you, but now I love you more
!

carmencita

The reason is that I did a post on SRA Survivor and that is why I am so happy that these children and victims are being finally recognized as the Truth Tellers that they are. Who ever heard of young children making up horrid abuse stories and SRA revelations. Really. <3

think-

Thank you, @3141592653 , very important info. Upvoat! :-)

3141592653

much appreciated.

think-

:-)

3141592653

Just Published Research States "False Memories" are An Inaccurate Paradigm- That Child Sexual Abuse is Real and Prevalent Systemically, Which Corrects the Lies of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation. The elite and the guilty created the FMSF to try to get people to buy that childhood sexual abuse memories were often "False memories." This research adds to the academic literature stating that what the FMSF says is NOT TRUE. That childhood sexual abuse is not only real, but that it is very prevalent, even in official institutions, including the church.

StcharlesSeminary

Do you have a link for this information please? Thanks

3141592653

yes, the title is a link. thanks

StcharlesSeminary

I have not been on in sometime~~~This is in regards to who helps financially the "False Memory Foundation"

Ross (2000) in Bluebird: Deliberate Creation of Multiple Personality by Psychiatrists, cites on p 154:

On December 11, 1996, in a posting on the internet list [email protected], Dr. Peter Freyd, husband of the Executive Director of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation, wrote:

Since we all want to be open about any money we might have received from military-related sources, let me confess.
I, too must go on record. Starting in 1988, I've been getting a lot of money from the U.S. Office of Naval Research.

3141592653

DAMN. thanks. that deserves its own post. CRAZY

carmencita

She is a Strong and Wonderful Woman. She has become my friend through encrypted email. I don't know how she does it. One of the most Courageous Women I have ever known. I sent her your post, hope you don't mind.

3141592653

no I do not mind! I am honored. she sounds like an amazing person.

carmencita

She was delighted. It gave her hope. She said thank you for posting.

3141592653

thank you for letting me know. that means a lot to me.

carmencita

They have such little good news. I was happy to relate. It is a good feeling when you know you have given someone hope.

FMS reminds me of the push to discredit eye witness testimony over last few years, such as witnesses claiming more than one shooter.
