This came to my email: https://www.whitehouse.gov/1600daily/ At the bottom you will be able to go to the White House's full statement on the Sex Trafficking Bill. You can also scroll way down and sign up for the emails. Although I don't agree with everything Trump says and does, I like to keep up with the news. I did this with Obama as well, even though it disgusted me.

Son of a bitches-this is an attack on researchers and victims, and it will be sold as just the opposite, and the average bear will not be able to see through this evil design

It's possible, but I feel like it's a move to eliminate independent dealers in human trafficking. The Govt. hates competition.

banusaur

It's a move to eliminate independent research and sharing. Like what we do on this site. It's a bill to take down researchers - it helps pedos. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2018/03/how-congress-censored-internet

I can't stand this world anymore.

poptical-illusionist

I have a feeling that Independent Researchers will find a way to distribute the truth to the masses. They definitely do not need any further limitations or censorship. If they can't get the truth out in a vast reaching forum, then perhaps if some focused on their local area it would spread enough to overlap one another and improve the conditions in that manner.

Yesterday Reddit did an announcement yesterday and I figured they were afraid of being held responsible for Opioids and the death penalty...and I figured pizza was involved too.

There is already a thread on this three threads below yours on the front page.

Congress Censors the Internet, Puts Child Sex Trafficking Victims in More Danger, and Threatens to Destroy Platforms Like Voat

Are_we__sure

@honeybee , where is your evidence for this claim?

That any content that promotes, aids, references , or has the appearance of sex trafficking or prostitution be completely blocked or deleted.

Those are not synonymous. There's a giant, giant difference between promoting prostitution/trafficking and referencing it. It seems your whole claim is based on conflating these issues.

EffYouJohnPodesta

I saw that post and I thought I would never agree with you, Are_we_sure, but I actually agree with you here, I am not seeing the problem with this bill and I don't appreciate being told to oppose it without reasons. If Honeybee has a problem with the imagined unintended consequences, there needs to be support for that from the text of the legislation or the Congressional notes because this seems like progress to me.

Relevance to PG: child sex trafficking is the heart of PG; websites are created and abused by sex traffickers. While the 10 year max sentence is light IMO, it's a step in the right direction.

This is a good step. Until I see proof otherwise, I am glad they passed this. Anyone on this board who is against this bill without explaining why is in my opinion, a compromised person. Don't believe everything you read on Voat no matter who posts it. Go look at the text of the legislation and decide for yourself. Holding websites accountable for hosting CP and aiding and abetting traffickers can only be a good thing.
