"In her 2004 autobiography "'Tis Herself", 'Maureen O'Hara' wrote that Boone and Peter Lawford, while filming Kangaroo (1952) in Melbourne, Australia, were arrested in a gay brothel "full of beautiful boys", but the studio prevented this from being reported by the press."

Are_we__sure

Doesn't seem to be reference to pedophilia.

sunajAeon

Well, it says they were arrested at a whorehouse, in a bathtub with a bunch of boys, they were arrested and it had to be covered up by studio executives

Are_we__sure

There's no evidence she is claiming they were pedophiles. She's saying they were gay.

Calling women girls and men boys was quite common in the 50s.

"My father used to provide Boone with young men and teenage rent boys in the 1970s. I've no idea why Boone's affairs with men are not mentioned in the article" "Richard Boone tried to seduce me when I was 15 on the set of "God's Gun". He was actually gay or at least bisexual" "John Wayne said he was aware of Boone's homosexuality"

hard to confirm, but this language is less ambiguous definitely.

sunajAeon

Sorry-you didn't call men "boys" in the 50's, the context and language suggests gay underage sex

Are_we__sure

That language was absolutely used in the 50s.

To you, the language may suggest that. There's nothing in the book that suggests underage sex.

sunajAeon

Wrong- BTW Have you read her book?

Are_we__sure

I looked up this passage in her book google some reviews. All the reviews just mention it as a gay brothel.
