The only benefit of this is to make it Harder for law enforcement to track baby pimps.

Then again, like the FBI the local yokels most likely pad their nest egg at the cost of human dignity.

Exactly. We just lost the #1 online tool for busting pedophiles and everyone's doing cartwheels about arresting a couple of web developers.

I pay my grand kids $100 for texts from any credible pervert who entices sex with High School or younger. Her parents monitor their school friends phone/data logs.

We call it parenting around here. Old school.

Tough call. If its allowed in the open it makes the crime seem legal, and it will proliferate, just like the homosexual movement did, but also easier to catch I guess. The traffic will move to dark web and the police and families can look there. Everyone needs to get deep web savvy.

The experts who are closest to this (police, scholars, sex workers) all think taking down backpage is a bad move. The crimes are in no way legal, even when the site was alive and well, but by allowing a neutral space they were exposed and prosecuted. Police cite it as the most useful tool in the arsenal for catching predators. The 'feels' people get from taking the site down and charging neutral parties are not worth the cost of lost children and busting the actual pedophiles. Now the job gets harder but the abuse continues in the dark. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. This is just society saying "I don't want to see this" and turning their head away so they can blissfully ignore the truth. What's worse is they're celebrating it as if they've accomplished something when this just makes things worse.
