NXIVM isn’t “just” a sex cult that branded and enslaved willing women, the cult also engaged in child sex trafficking:

(1) Founder and leader Keith Raniere raped teen-girls since the 1980s, including a 12-year-old. (2) Unsealed indictment of second-in-command actress Allison Mack states the 3 charges of her arrest, including "sex trafficking of children".

Hopefully, we'll know more about the full extent of NXIVM's crimes against children.

Original sources are important to look at when digesting news from various sources. According the the complaint , he is being charged under Title 18 USC Sections 1589, 1591 (child sex trafficking) . You can see what the legal requirements for those charges are here . There are two victims Jane Doe 1,2. The legal requirement is that the victim has not yet reached 14 years of age. So these were at most 13 years old at the time.
