You can train an ai to spot fakes even ones normal people couldn't spot. This is called adversarial training you have one ai training to make better and better fakes and then use that output to train a second ai to learn how to spot the fakes. So i doubt this is the silver bullet the kid fuckers are looking for.

Probably but I'm guessing there will be algorithms that can detect fake vs real video. Just like there are algorithms to detect if photos have been manipulated via photoshop or similar.

There's ways via electronic forensics to identify when a video has been edited or tampered with.

This also might backfire on them because several people are being held quite by video evidence that exist on them. If they push the fake video angle how many of these blackmailed people will start to talk because their video can be contested in court. Damned if they do and they are damned if they don't.
