The sad commercials are probably fake. The entire concept of individual sponsorship I hope is fake, because if real, it's a cruel practice that divides children into the special ones who have sponsors and the less special who don't. I think the letters, the photos, even the well-meaning sponsor visits are carefully choreographed money grabs.

And yes, Nana, underneath all that there is undoubtedly selling--not just selling to elites but also short-term renting to any run-of-the-mill pervert with enough cash.

I don't know whether the organizations named in this thread are guilty of any of that, but they do need to be scrutinized along with all the many others.
