Geoffrey Dickens (1931 - 1995) was MP for Huddersfield West from 1979 - 1983 when the seat was abolished and later Littleborough & Saddleworth from 1983 until his death in 1995. He campaigned to expose a high level paedophile network which, in Dickens's own words contained, "Big, big names - people in positions of power, influence and responsibility." He succeeded in outing Peter Hayman, former British High Commissioner to Canada and deputy chief of MI6 as a paedophile. Hayman was subsequently jailed in 1984. He delivered dossiers identifying the members of this high level paedophile ring (which, predictably, was connected to PIE) to then British Home Secretary Leon Brittain and Director of Public Prosecutions Thomas Hetherington. Both were "lost". He began receiving threatening telephone calls, his constituency home in Saddleworth and his London flat were ransacked and his name was found in a notebook belonging to convicted murderer/rapist Arthur Hutchinson, who was seen casing Mr. Dickens's home. Yet he never wavered in his crusade to expose these devils. Godspeed, Mr. Dickens!
