Department of Justice Office of Public Affairs FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday, June 12, 2018 More Than 2,300 Suspected Online Child Sex Offenders Arrested During Operation “Broken Heart”

The Department of Justice today announced the arrest of more than 2,300 suspected online child sex offenders during a three-month, nationwide, operation conducted by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces. The task forces identified 195 offenders who either produced child pornography or committed child sexual abuse, and 383 children who suffered recent, ongoing, or historical sexual abuse or production of child pornography.

The 61 ICAC task forces, located in all 50 states and comprised of more than 4,500 federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies, led the coordinated operation known as “Broken Heart” during the months of March, April, and May 2018. During the course of the operation, the task forces investigated more than 25,200 complaints of technology-facilitated crimes against children and delivered more than 3,700 presentations on Internet safety to over 390,000 youth and adults.

"No child should ever have to endure sexual abuse," Attorney General Jeff Sessions said. "And yet, in recent years, certain forms of modern technology have facilitated the spread of child pornography and created greater incentives for its production. We at the Department of Justice are determined to strike back against these repugnant crimes. It is shocking and very sad that in this one operation, we have arrested more than 2,300 alleged child predators and investigated some 25,200 sexual abuse complaints. Any would-be criminal should be warned: this Department will remain relentless in hunting down those who victimize our children."

The operation targeted suspects who: (1) produce, distribute, receive and possess child pornography; (2) engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes; (3) engage in the sex trafficking of children; and (4) travel across state lines or to foreign countries and sexually abuse children.

The ICAC Program is funded through the Department’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). In 1998, OJJDP launched the ICAC Task Force Program to help federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies enhance their investigative responses to offenders who use the Internet, online communication systems or computer technology to exploit children. To date, ICAC Task Forces have reviewed more than 775,000 complaints of child exploitation, which resulted in the arrest of more than 83,000 individuals. In addition, since the ICAC program's inception, more than 629,400 law enforcement officers, prosecutors and other professionals have been trained on techniques to investigate and prosecute ICAC-related cases.

Sessions may not appear to be doing much, but it is because he is doing so much. Maybe the 311 AUSAs hired over the last several months indicates that prosecutions are happening. No since in trying to decode the gibberish of fools and fakers if a person learns what to do. All a person has to do with metals is find three or four other things that it trades both with and in opposition to. Best among those is currencies. As long as it continues to trade in opposition to those just ride the groove. If it changes I would liquidate immediately and watch to see how things would line up next and jump back in. My average was bought into silver at about 7 dollars and sold at 36 and I had a shit ton of it and I still have some.

I would not try that right now because silver has been range bound in a really tight range lately. When that happens it usually indicates a swing up or down in the future. Its harder to find something to compare it to right now because its range bound.

Are the public records on file?

Until I see 2300 names of the arrested, published as a matter of public record, and the specific crimes they have been charged with, as court documents and arrest records, crimes that are not "prostitutes and pimps" I will consider that it might just be more propaganda.

There is no way to verify this vague DOJ "press release" without the jurisdictions involved. They made a very bold claim and gave zero verifiable information. They want people to call a task commander for more information. Strange to say the least.

@Blacksmith21 , the way this actually works is local law enforcement agencies all keep a public crime report log of 911 calls and arrests. I know, because when I was a fledgling reporter, I had to go to several of the local cop shops and read the clip board in order to write up the weekly "Crime Beat" report for the papers I worked for as a stringer. We just printed the interesting incidents, not the whole report. I'm sure this still works in a similar way today. They make it hard for reporters to get because most cops hate the press.

OP BH was conducted over a 3-month period. Now that the DOJ has announced the results of this yearly operation, it will be up to local reports to find out who was arrested.

My previous comments implied a lag time between the DOJ announcement and news reporting. Unless, you know where to look and who/what to look for.

The way our law works all arrests are mandatory public records unless the justice system is hiding something. There is no need to conceal these peoples identities for their safety. Arrest records of murders and child molesters are made public record every day and this should be no different.

Conveniently the article didn't give enough information to even identify all the jurisdictions and officers involved, or the names of the perps. I'm not calling any "task force commanders" either. This should be front page news all over the country with perp walks, video footage, names and crimes listed BECAUSE IF TRUE THIS WOULD BE HUGE NEWS. There is enough news story material to be front headline news for a month chock full of details of the heinous crimes.
