Thank you :) I have 4 well adjusted great adult children, not perfect, but well balanced citizens with good morals. I have 3 little grandsons 4,2,1 and another due in September. My daughter will be homeschooling her sons with my help. I have worked in different schools as an Assistant Teacher for years and she and her husband have many concerns about leaving the boys to be 'indoctrinated' into learning anything they do not approve of, school is without oversight for 6.5 hours a day, that works out to a lot of alone time with people you do not know if you 100% trust. Although I did not experience any inappropriate 'teaching' of the children while I worked there, some of the staffs conversations in the staff room about their 'wild and liberal lifestyles' was troubling. I had to ask someone to continue the conversations elsewhere, saying that I choose not to watch/hear that stuff at home and don't expect to hear it explained in graphic details in a professional place of work. No it was not received well, but I know for sure it should not be said in that setting so I had to ignore my embarrassment or chance of ridicule and say something. It was better, though I know they would say things behind my back, at least they did not bring their vile disgusting conversations up around me again. The Christmas party outing for teachers was arranged it was an evening canal boat trip. Omgoodness, I could not wait to get off that canal boat. It was like Sodom and Gomorrah! If I thought the conversations were bad, this was worse.......the boat had a glass room the whole length so you could see out but were still protected from the weather - they had a 'dance' and they were drunk and writhing around with others people we had met on the boat that evening. It was suffocating, I went outside onto the little gangway so as not to see what was going on. There was another teacher outside who I did not know at the time, she was very quiet whenever I saw her around the school. We struck up a conversation and she said trips were always like that. When we finally got onto the coach for the trip back home there was one woman missing.....the driver was threatening to leave when eventually she staggered onto the coach all dishevelled and pulling up her trousers, she'd gone off with a man (I knew her husband and little boy), instead of concern for her, all her friends cheered as though she had won a prize! Why am I saying all this? Because, this kind of behaviour being watched, practised and talked about is bound to have an influence on your outlook, and when you are teaching children if they have questions, your answers could easily be tainted to what your lifestyle is. I think a fantastic book/videos I used as a guide manual for my children are by Josh McDowell - especially No The Positive Answer it helps you as a parent to give your children ammunition to counter their pier pressures. :) No! The Positive Answer by Josh McDowell – 1 Jan 1993 WOW it was that long ago! Its served me well.
