Each case is different. Some have drips and drabs over years and others, the information just comes pouring out AND some can talk about it and others can't. I can certainly understand why. We must start believing Our Children for many talk of these things when younger and no one believes. That is why there is Suppressed Memory. They push it out of their minds and then deep therapy brings it forward. Horrid.
