I don't doubt this is true, but I just want to point out that this article was based on an investigation by ProPublica , the left-wing pet project of Herb and Marion Sandler. The only reason they're writing now about child sexual abuse is that Trump is president. When Obama was president, their scanty coverage of these issues was mainly aimed at protecting child sexual abusers, even child murderers. Here's an example:
