"The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that large portions of a grand jury report into clergy sex abuse in six Catholic dioceses in Pennsylvania will be released to the public .

In an order issued Friday afternoon, the court states that an interim report on the findings of the 40th Statewide Grand Jury investigation will be released in August. The interim report, with redactions, will be released by Aug. 14 , according to the order written by Chief Justice Thomas Saylor.

Dozens of priests have challenged the release of the report and said it would violate their rights to due process.

More than 300 people identified by name are alleged to have committed criminal or morally reprehensible conduct in the grand jury report**, the court's opinion states.

The grand jury report describes more than 300 clergymen as "predator priests," according to the court opinion released Friday."

The court directed the Commonwealth to prepare a redacted version of the report, ordering it to remove "specific and contextual references to any petitioner who has an appellate challenge pending before this Court."

The court will not entertain motions to postpone the release of the report or change the schedule, the order states.

Dozens means multiples of 12. 300 means at least 24 or 25 to round off the number. More than 300 are identified by name. Hard to blame the youth for being so messed up now.

The redactions are to insure a fair trial for those appealing the grand jury findings which will lead to indictments. This is good. We dont want anybody having their case thrown out later on a 6th Amendment technicality. The judge sounds like a no-nonsence judge to me.I have never seen an order telling the defense lawyers to not even try to come back to court again, to delay publication. The public just needs to be patient.

Yes, I know. This is sad news for those that will not get their justice, which many have been waiting for for decades. Those that protested the release of this report because they claimed it would hurt their reputations, their reputations are already ruined in the eyes of the children they abused and in the Eyes of God. Those that were abused should spread the stories of their abuse far and wide. They did nothing wrong and should not be ashamed. It is the only way those rapists will be outed Shameful beyond words. That Supreme Court is a joke.
