Catholicism does have a huge problem, but so does everyone... the church's problem is unique because those baby fuckers think they can get away with it in a parish of people who would never dare let someone rape their kid. Child rapists feel entitled because they're protected by authority figures who are likely afraid to arrest and punish former victims/now child rapists--it's dangerous because they know too much. So they end up protecting each other, really, with silence and inaction. The cycle continues.

Also, I believe many who were raped as kids adopt an "it's my turn now" mentality. They've become sexually warped sub-human child-raping wimps with no moral core, just like their own abusers and the abusers before them.
