The cave diver who Elon Musk has baselessly labelled a 'paedo guy' says he will sue the billionaire in three countries.

Vernon Unsworth is preparing to start legal action against the Tesla boss and is reportedly considering going through Thai courts where Mr Musk could even be handed a jail sentence for his remark.

I cannot stand the term "baseless remark". Yes, because thats what people really do isn't it? They pick random people out of a crowd and for no reason start calling them a paedophile. No you idiot, they do it because of evidence, information, suspicion, rumour etc.

This is such a strange story now that we see Unsworth with a high powered lawyer taking this to court. Is Musk deliberately escalating the situation so evidence comes out?

If what was said is not true, and the age of the cave guy's wife proves part of it isn't true, then the guy should sue.

Totally different standard for Musk. His words are picked up and carried because of who he is. If an average citizen speculated and made such allegations, who would even know? They wouldn't unless they hung around forums or were one of the three followers on the Twitter account of the guy making the remarks.

If it's true, it'll come out in court. If it's not, Musk should know better than to shoot his mouth off like that without proof. Of course, if it is true, and Musk can't prove it, I'd give Musk a huge wide pass because it must be frustrating to know this without being able to say it.

Just an offhand opinion: Musk is part of the elite networks, set up purposefully to fail at Tesla (because it's a way to protect the oil-gas business), further Musk wouldn't be stupid enough to publicly slander someone and allow a potentially damaging lawsuit unless it was all a set-up to begin with, as a cautionary tale to those (some of us) who accuse pedos without absolute proof.

Vernon did not sue the first time Musk called him "paedo guy" but is now suing after Musk says that he married a 12 year old child bride. Vernon's wife is actually 40 and he met her when she was 32. Liable is a serious business in Thailand which can result in arrest if failing to turn up in court and imprisonment if found guilty.

This is interesting. This is not an isolated incident. There was a saboteur in Tesla, and it appears that a lot of major companies have been trying to undermine him for a while. So suddenly a diver starts suing from multiple countries? Something is weird here.

There was a coder who wrote bad code because they were not promoted. I find that to be bullshit. In IT if you have a good pedigree, and are disrespected in any way, you can leave for a better job in a day. This person could have made a resume, put it out there, and been out the door in a day.

while this sabotage was going on, a lot of investment companies were suspiciously bearish over Tesla, like they knew this was going on. A lot of aerospace companies want to see musk taken out.

Here's something I would like to know what effect Tesla claims the sabotage took. No coder should be able to push their code to a production system without controls. That's the case for everyday honest coders sincerely doing their job. Because while they may fix the one thing they are working on, it may break something else unexpectedly. Or the combination of multiple coders work may break something. This is routine in the software, which is why testing on staging environments before being released to production is standard practice, this is why tools to roll back a code deployment to prior state are standard practice in software.

Why do you think this would take very much money? Especially if his case is strong, many lawyers would take a small fee or no fee upfront as a bet they would might win big money against a billionaire. You know that lawyers often win part of a settlement right?

In a contingent fee arrangement, the lawyer agrees to accept a fixed percentage (often one third) of the recovery, which is the amount finally paid to the client. If you win the case, the lawyer's fee comes out of the money awarded to you.

AWS: You are quite right. Musk made a very serious allegation that was broadcast on MSM and the forever Internet . He had an obligation to the accused and the public to provide proof. Admittedly, I'm not a lawyer, but I just don't see how Elon is going to be held accountable in either a Thai or Londonistan court, when he lives in the US. I also don't see the US being willing to extradite Elon to Thailand to face any of the charges. And I don't see how a non-US citizen can sue in the US court system for an event that didn't even occur in the US.
