For years, the USOC said its priority was collecting as much gold, silver and bronze as possible at the Olympics. What athletes did in the years between Summer and Winter Games was not its concern, the responsibility for their health and well-being shunted off to the governing bodies of each individual sport.

But there’s a price to pay for putting medals ahead of morals. The USOC’s detached approach left young athletes vulnerable to predators like Larry Nassar. More than 350 girls and young women, including several Olympic champions, have said the longtime USA Gymnastics physician sexually abused them, often under the guise of medical treatment. "

it is truly amazing that these young women brought home so many gold medals. Unbelievable talent, strength, and courage.

First, check out where this camp is located ... in the middle of nowhere . Back in college, around 2000-01, some friends and I used to drive around exploring the national forest, and we stumbled on this place one night as a school bus came zooming out and almost ran us off the road... it scared the shit out of us, as we had no idea this place existed, and it was about 1:00am. At the time, there was basically nothing else out there but woods for miles in all directions.

But the ranch became tainted when Nassar was found to be a serial pedophile, abusing them under the guise of medical treatment. More than a half-dozen national team members have said Nassar abused them at the ranch.

Bela Karolyi initially bought the ranch, located about 45 minutes north of Houston in the middle of Sam Houston National Forest, as a hunting property.

This place is remote enough, someone could literally get away with murder... makes me wonder, what were they hunting?

And of course... the camp is now closed .

UpVoat! Thank God someone had the guts to write that. There is so much more that has not been uncovered in that case. What also scares me is what may be happen to the Children on the Special Olympics. This is a can of worms the Committee does not want opened.

USA Today is one of the few news outlets I read regularly. Sure, they have biased articles, but for the most part they report the facts with little opinion.

That is good to hear. So little truth out there and then we have to read between the lines. Most of the CT is true or turns out to be. I will remember that.
