That's correct. This warrant to search Weiner's laptop for Clinton's emails was released at least a year ago. A lot of the other papers included in this release are new. Notice that the warrant says the laptop is currently in the FBI's NY Field Office. This is the SECOND warrant for Weiner's laptop. The DOJ IG report from last year covered a lot of this in depth. They seize Weiner's laptop because he was sexting with an underage girl and they start look at it. Warrants in general do not give you license to look for anything and everything on a person's laptop even if you have it. So if they are looking for evidence talking to underage girls, emails between Weiner and his wife are not part of that warrant. So they are just looking at the metadate of the emails TO and FROM and sorting Weiner's emails into what can be legally searched and what cannot....as they are doing this they notice a bunch of Huma to Clinton emails, but they can search these until they can a second warran that covers them. The IG report covers the whole back and forth over getting this second warrant.

We not can definitely say from the IG report and the initial warrant to seize Weiner's laptop that the stories that said the NYPD had the laptop first are completely false. I quote another post on this I made on this when the FBI released docs on the Weiner Warrant.

Basically, we now have a chain of custody for the Weiner laptop and the NYPD is not in it, nor is there enough time for an alternate timeline.

Unconfirmed but probable. Weiner was given a federal subpoena to preserve evidence and this is what caused him to turn over his devices to the Security Firm. The FBI obviously knew where they were, so the Southern District of NY must have been talking to his lawyer. I suspect they handed them over to a third party to avoid the field day the press would have if the FBI showed up at his house.

Here's one big piece of information, a lot of people made a Hullabaloo about an agent's handwritten notes when he was being briefed on the Weiner laptop and he wrote on one line Clinton Foundation and on the other Crimes Against Children. Given the entire rest of the chapter, it's pretty clear that the first note applied to Clinton and the Second to Weiner. In fact, it matches up quite well with the two warrants, well now we see what Clinton was being investigated for. No sex crimes are mentioned. We know Midyear Exam is the code name of the investigation. The document is from 11/17 after they reviewed Clinton's emails.

There's a ton redacted but no mention of sex yet.

Page 45 and around is interesting. Lots of stuff redacted, mentions something happening in 2018, related investigation in March and April, but concludes with nothing relevant or actionable
