Jahangir Akhtar was deputy leader of Rotherham council. He had a relative, a gang ringleader called Arshid 'Mad Ash' Hussain - was said to have agreed to hand a missing 14-year-old girl to officers at a petrol station after receiving an assurance that he would not be prosecuted. Akhtar is the one who dealt with the police to get such a deal for his relative.

Now his daughter Norsheen Akhtar, who still lives with her father, has joined Rotherham Rise in a managerial role.
