Given there any number of reasons for that effect, including chemically, I was referring to something that has been noted in my research of MKUltra's trauma based programming and SRA.

From what I've read, when a personality is fragmented through trauma and then programmed, that particular feature may happen when specific alters are presenting.

My personal theory is that when that alter takes executive control, the body exhibits some of the physical effects of the trauma that created it. Electroshock and drugs, as well as a concussion can make that happen, too.
