I find it odd that with all the investigations going on, with the Republicans pushing against child porn/trafficing/etc, with all the talk about it and arrests, especially since Epstein, that this guy would just have 'downloaded' child porn. If he's a sicko, take him out regardless of party, race, wealth or position....but I still find it odd he took the chance in this hostile climate and election period.

Also, someone who is so well connected, and has money, shouldn't be released on bail at all if he has attacked children.

Not a bad week. Within seven days, fomer judge Aaron Persky was fired from his job as a high school tennis coach, after 1,200 people had signed a petition. Persky was infamous for his leniency towards sexual predators when he was a judge.

Then Richard Stallman (MIT) had to resign after people found out that he had promoted 'voluntary pedophlia' and the legalization of child porn in the past, and after he made some comments that appeared to downplay the sexual exploitation of one of Epstein's victims by his former colleague Marvin Minsky.

He was not only charged with owning child porn. He was also charged with sexually abusing children (see my comment below).

Pennsylvania state Sen. Michael Folmer (Rep) was arrested and charged Tuesday with the sexual abuse of children and possession of child pornography.

State Attorney General Josh Shapiro said the arrest was the result of an investigation that started with a CyberTip report that Tumblr had discovered a user had uploaded child pornography using its application.

The investigation led to Folmer’s home, where authorities with the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section, Lebanon City Police Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security found images of child pornography on his phone Tuesday.

Folmer was charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography, and criminal use of a communication facility. Senior Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones will prosecute the case.

During the police interview, Folmer admitted the Tumblr account associated with the CyberTip was his.

Michael Folmer stated that he had been dealing with some personal problems/issues and that he had received child pornography through his Tumblr blog," the criminal complaint states.

Oh these pesky 'personal problems' /s.

Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf called Wednesday morning for Folmer’s immediate resignation.

Two of Folmer’s fellow Republicans in the state’s legislature also condemned him.

Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati and Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman issued a joint statement Tuesday night expressing their shock and announcing Folmer’s immediate removal from his post as chairman of the Senate State Government Committee.

“Further action in response to these charges will be taken by Senate Leadership in the coming days,” they said.

Folmer’s name has already been removed from the Pennsylvania Senate State Government Committee’s website.

“This defendant serves as a state Senator and was entrusted to honor and represent his community in the Pennsylvania Capitol,” Shapiro said in a statement.

“I will continue to say it—no one is above the law, no matter what position of power they hold. I will continue to work to protect children and hold those who abuse them accountable.”

Folmer, 63, represents all of Lebanon County and parts of Dauphin and York counties. He was elected to his fourth term in the state Senate last November. He is married and has seven grandchildren.

Folmer became known as “Marijuana Mike” for his role in pushing the governor’s medical marijuana legislation, which was signed in 2016.
