He didn't exactly say that Q was real in the sense of confirming what Q said about who Q team is comprised of. This is what he said:

That doesn't confirm or deny what Q says about himself. Gen. Vallely only states that the person posting as Q gets some of his information out of a group nicknamed The Army of Northern Virginia .

"Some" of the info from that group could conceivably be found on the internet through some of their own operations concerning information warfare.
